Week 1 (24/02/25) - Start
This week is the first of my fourth project for my honours module at UCLan. For this project I wanted to make something more colourful and stylised, compared to what I have created so far. I decided to stick with a similar theme as my last project and look at ancient weapons. After debating on which region to base my project on, I chose to create stylised weapons from ancient Egypt.
I spent this week researching and created a mood board of the type of weapons that I wanted to make. The weapons I decided to make are:
1. A Khopesh - This is a type of axe-sword.
2. A Mace - A bludgeoning weapon that is usually made of a large rounded stone on the end of a handle.
3. A Spear - Usually made of copper, these were one of the most common types of weapon available.
4. A Staff - This isn't really a weapon but fits with the stylised theme and I believe would make a good addition as the ancient Egyptians were very religious and I would be able to add a lot of symbolism to the staff.
This is the mood board of weapon references that I created.
Once I had decided what weapons I wanted to create I began to research the styles that I wanted to use as reference when designing them. I created a mood board of weapons from different games as well as other miscellaneous stylised weapons that I like the look of.
This is a mood board of references that I created.
My plan for next week is to design and model the staff.
