Week 2 (03/03/25)
This week was the second week of my Egyptian weapon project. I have made some really good progress this week. As of this moment, I have modelled the staff and then put it into an app called Nomad Sculpt. This app is similar to ZBrush, but works with android tablets. I used this app to sculpt the high poly version of my model, which I then decimated to a reasonable level.
Here is an image of the modelled staff inside of MAYA.
The model is made up 6 main parts, these are:
1. The Ankh at the top
2. The Ankh to Shaft Connector
3. The Shaft
4. The Grip
5. The Shaft to Blade Connector
6. The Blade at the bottom

On the high poly I have sculpted lots of minor details all over the model. I created a wrap that goes round the grip, as if it was wrapped with a fabric. On the steel parts I added some slight wear to the edges and some dings/scratches. I plan to make the Ankh look like it's made of gold and, because it's a soft metal, I added some deeper scratches and made the wear more noticeable.
The plan for next week is to texture the staff and begin working on my next model.
